Shyamli Suneesh, an alumna of Our Own Dubai, has carved an inspiring path blending technology, education, and social responsibility. With a background in Physics, a master’s degree from the University of Bristol, and an ongoing PhD in Human-Robot Interaction at Lancaster University, Shyamli’s journey embodies curiosity, perseverance, and leadership.
Shyamli credits her success to the nurturing environment and strong foundation she built at Our Own Dubai. The school played a pivotal role in honing her personality and confidence via a well-rounded curriculum and extracurricular opportunities. Her teachers instilled in her a growth mindset, teaching her to approach challenges with resilience and determination. Her involvement in science fairs, leadership roles, and co-curricular activities sharpened her problem-solving and teamwork skills. She also represented the school at the prestigious World Scholar's Cup Tournament of Champions in the USA, showcasing her academic excellence, critical thinking, and collaborative skills on an international stage.
Her passion for robotics began during a student exchange program in the USA and further developed through her master's thesis on child-robot interaction to help children with special education needs. She has worked on numerous impactful projects, including AI for cancer research as a Science Communicator, Research Associate at the UKRI TAS Hub, Founder of Xplore Street, and Research and Project Manager at Creative Tuition Collective. She has been invited to speak at prestigious events, including panel discussions by BBC Radio.
Shyamli’s dedication earned her several awards, including the All-India Women Achievers Award in 2021 and Bristol PLUS Award 2022, and the prestigious Diana Award in 2023. A classical Kuchipudi dancer, author, and speaker, Shyamli continues to inspire others with her diverse talents and persistent commitment to making a difference.
